Cayla Stoltzfoos |

Much like we believe we have the best customers in the world, we also believe we have the best employees! Stoltzfus Meats is made up of a group of well-trained, skilled, and knowledgeable employees. Each employee brings a unique set of skills to the table, along with a one-of-a-kind personality, and diverse work and life experiences. We love to see our employees settle into their roles and let their talents shine!

In the coming months, we hope to introduce you to some of our top-notch employees through a segment called "'Meat' & Greet" so that you can get to know the Stoltzfus Meats team as individuals. This will give you the opportunity to have names to put with faces you often see working as a cashier or behind the counter at our retail locations! It will also give you the opportunity to get to know some of the employees who work a little more behind-the-scenes, such as in our wholesale plant or business office. We hope you enjoy the chance to “meat” some of the employees of Stoltzfus Meats!

To kick this off, we figured it would be best to start by interviewing Myron Stoltzfus, the owner and CEO of the company!

Q: With your dad being the founder of the company, how did you become involved and eventually become his successor?
A: I have been helping with the family business in various aspects since I was around 9-years-old. I started working full-time at 18 years old, out of high school, and became an owner in September 1980 at the age of 22.

Q: Share a funny story or fond memory you have of an experience here.
A: Just the fun of working with others at market, in the plant, or on the old [slaughtering] floor. They were fond memories. The other one would be the many colorful characters that have made up Stoltzfus Meats over the years. Part of the fun has been seeing various practical jokes and antics that take place.

Q: Aside from presidential/administrative roles, what is one of your favorite tasks to do within the company?
A: To be able to work somewhere with a knife in my hand – cutting [meat] at market or at the plant.

Q: What does being the leader of this company mean to you?
A: It’s a big deal to me and I take it as a huge responsibility. I feel like I’ve been entrusted with the family business, the family name, and what God has entrusted to me to steward. I take it pretty seriously. Along with the stresses that come with a business, it has been a source of a lot of personal reward. As [my son], Zach, recently said about his work, “I think that I was created for this.”

Q: What do you like to do apart from Stoltzfus Meats?
A: I like to travel. I like to cook. I like to entertain friends and family. I like working outside. I’ve recently discovered that I like to draw and to paint.

Q: What is your favorite Stoltzfus Meats product?
A: Let me think about this one. They’re all so good, but at the top, just by a hair, is the applewood smoked bacon. It’s hard to stop eating that stuff. But they’re all a really close second. If I had to say, the second one is our sausage

We are so thankful for the leadership of Myron here at Stoltzfus Meats! His passion for this industry, his willingness to jump in to help in various roles when an extra set of hands is needed, and his genuine care for all of the employees of Stoltzfus Meats are so appreciated.
