For today's meat and greet, we're featuring an employee who has been at Stoltzfus Meats for almost 20 years, but connected to Stoltzfus Meats for much longer - Nate! (Fun fact, Anna is Nate's mother-in-law!)
Q: Tell us a little bit about your connection to Stoltzfus Meats. How long have you worked here?
A: I started working at Stoltzfus Meats in November of 2004. I have known Myron and Stoltzfus Meats most of my life. I remember bringing our cows here to be butchered as a kid and the wonderful sweet bologna that came back for us to enjoy. I can still taste that bologna 50 years later.
Q: What is your current role? What does a “typical” day at Stoltzfus Meats look like for you?
A: My current role is special projects and Research/Development. That includes anything from helping create new products for our own brand or private label products to overseeing building projects. I also coordinate any maintenance that is needed on equipment or buildings. A “typical” day is hard to explain because it doesn’t seem like I have 2 days the same. What I do and my routines are constantly different each day. I love variety so this fits me well.
Q: What is your favorite Stoltzfus Meats product?
A: That is a tough one but I would say our sausage would be number one followed by our bone-in hams.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: I love projects – both inside and outside the house, but lawn work and gardening would be at the top of the list.
Q: If you could go anywhere or do anything for a day, what would you do?
A: I am a big Phillies fan so I would love to be the first one in the Phillies clubhouse and the last one to leave the clubhouse on any game day. I would enjoy seeing and being a part of all the behind the scenes of a baseball game.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Nate a little bit better. We are so thankful for Nate and the many behind-the-scenes tasks he accomplishes at Stoltzfus Meats to keep us up and running as smoothly as possible!
