This week, we have a fun story from Anna, telling us about the photo above. You may be thinking "boy, that man on the right looks an awful lot like the Fonz from Happy Days." If that's what you're thinking, you're exactly right! This photo was taken at the Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant when Anna was a waitress there. Here is Anna's recollection of how this photo came to be:
Q: Can you tell us about Henry Winkler’s visit?
A: The Fonz was visiting the area with a friend. They came to visit as tourists and were touring the area. At the time, if you got a $5 tip as a waitress, you were really doing a good job. He gave me a $5 tip and he was so kind. He was very easy to serve and fun to interact with.
Q: Were there other famous people you served at the restaurant?
A: I remember serving Dick Martin and Donna Reid, who were a couple at the time. They came into the restaurant on a Saturday night and then Sunday afternoon, I took them on a tour around the area.
Q: What was your favorite part of working at the restaurant?
A: Meeting the customers.
