Location Tour Part 3: Intercourse, PA

Location Tour Part 3: Intercourse, PA

Cayla Stoltzfoos |

We’re back for the final week of our location tours where we have been virtually visiting each of our three locations. We started with our market stands in New Castle, DE followed by our wholesale plant and business office last week. This week, we’re finishing up the tour at our retail store and restaurant in Intercourse, PA!

The History

If you remember from last week’s post, we mentioned that Amos Stoltzfus built a small butcher shop on land purchased from his father in the 1960s. By 1966, a small retail store was attached to the butcher shop in Gordonville, PA to supply local customers. The location of the retail store was actually in the exact location where our business office is located today. A couple years later, in 1968, a family-style restaurant opened on the Stoltzfus homestead. While this restaurant has since closed, it was Stoltzfus Meats’ entry into the restaurant scene.

In 1996, the retail business outgrew the space at the butcher shop and moved to Cross Keys Center, which was a small shopping strip a little closer to town. Then, in 2009, a new retail store was built in the heart of Intercourse, PA, which is where we are located to this day. Amos’ Place Restaurant was added to the retail store when it opened, in homage to Amos Stoltzfus, who passed away in 2007.

Store & Deli

Located right in the town of Intercourse, PA, our retail store is a great stop for locals and visitors alike. This is where you can find the award-winning PA Dutch food that Stoltzfus Meats has been making for more than 60 years. The retail store and deli sell a large selection of our own fresh and smoked meats, made right down the road at the production facility. Some customer favorites include our classic meats such as rope sausage, bacon, and scrapple, as well as new favorites like spinach and feta chicken grillers and hamburger patties.

In addition to the meats that are offered at the deli counter and throughout the store, we carry a great variety of other foods. This includes deli salads, cheeses, marinades, jams, sauces, pizzas, and locally-made butters. In our specialty food section, you’ll find noodles, snack mixes, freshly ground peanut butter, dried fruit, chocolate, and anything else you could think of to satisfy all of your snack cravings. Your nose will be sure to lead you to our bakery department, where they prepare homemade bread, sticky buns, whoopies pies, cookies, and much more. We also have selections from our Farmhouse Meal Line, including homemade soups and dinner entrees and sides, such as ham loaf, lasagna, sweet potato casserole, and green beans.

With all of these choices and even more that we didn’t mention, there is truly something for everyone at our store!

Amos’ Place Restaurant

Also located inside the store, Amos’ Place Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. From 6AM to 10:30AM, visitors can pick from breakfast entrees and sandwiches, such as the Stoltzfus Scrambler or a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. From 10:30AM to closing, we offer lunch and dinner options like the Stoltzfus Sausage Sandwich®, broasted chicken, homemade soup, burgers, and salads. The restaurant gives you the opportunity to try some of our Stoltzfus Meats products in action, as all of the sausage, bacon, and smoked meats used in meal items are the same products made right down the road at our plant and sold in the store!

We are so thankful for each of our locations and the crucial role they play in the company. Each location has something unique and different to offer, but together they make up Stoltzfus Meats. Hi Lauren! Thank you for your comment – it’s so good to hear from you. We’re so happy to hear that you enjoy your visits to our store! Looking forward to having you live in the area. :)

Stoltzfus Meats,

Our favorite place to eat and purchase all the various products. The butcher department is the very best- the applewood bacon is amazing- I have a vast selection of Stoltzfus brand seasonings which are terrific. We can’t wait till we are permanent residents and have the opportunity to shop there weekly.
