Stoltzfus Eats: Dried Beef Casserole

Stoltzfus Eats: Dried Beef Casserole

The hints of winter weather that we've been having in Lancaster County have made us hungry for PA Dutch comfort food. Today's recipe is a super simple, very delicious, classic PA Dutch recipe - Dried Beef Casserole!

Whether you prefer your dried beef chipped or sliced, or as creamed dried beef on toast, we think you'll agree that cured and dry aged beef is a flavorful addition to almost any dish.

We adapted this recipe from the Locust Grove cookbook, and think you will really enjoy it. With essentially zero prep required, this recipe is assembled the evening before and popped in the oven an hour before dinner time. It couldn't be easier!

What you'll need for this recipe:

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
2 cups milk
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 1/4 cup elbow macaroni, uncooked
4 oz. Stoltzfus Meats dried beef
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. In an 8x8 dish, layer uncooked macaroni, cheddar, and dried beef.

2. In a small bowl, combine soup, milk, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pour over top of the dried beef casserole.

3. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

4. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove the foil, and bake the dried beef casserole for an additional 30 minutes.
