Shoofly Pie

I grew up in PA and have had a lot of shoefly pies. I have even made them in the past. I'm used to the molasses being really gooey. This pie was 90% topping and the "gooey" part wasn't gooey at all, just a thin layer of hard syrup.

Originally from Conestoga, currently reside in Texas. A taste of home is just a click away with Stoltzfus Meats. The Shooflypie was excellent as was the Scrapple! As always, my order arrives quickly in tact and ready to eat. I couldn't wait to sample the pepper cabbage and chow chow.

Great pie, I only bought store pies when lived in the Philly area. This is so much better than store bought. I especially liked the taste of the pie, was not expecting much of a taste, but once had the first slice had no problem eating the entire pie. Of course, not all in one sitting wanted it to last a few days.

My latest purchase on number 5/13/24 was not up to par with your standards. The filling was not as moist and the crumb topping. Where was the crumb topping? Previous purchase on 2/20, 12/30 and 12/22 were outstanding. change in recipe? I don’t know but go back to the old recipe. But I will try again.

I loved the crust and wet bottom of it, but I didn't care for the taste of the crumbles topping.
